Our Designer “Cooked Up Her Design” And “Boiled” First Place!

This year “Metalac” has organized a competition for designers called “Cook up your design”. So we are honored to share with you that our designer, Jelena Živković, won first place with her remarkable design!

From the Webility office, Jelena talks about her experience in this competition and her designs.

How did you find out about this competition?

Jelena: My colleague Nemanja and I have found out about the competition from the Webility manager. As we had some free time from projects at that moment, we decided to participate, and both sent our solutions.

What is the inspiration for your design?

Jelena: The inspiration for the design came from cooking, as the warmest family activity that connects all members. As today it is challenging to occupy the attention of little ones and get them interested in something other than the phone, the goal of my design was to tell a story through illustrations that parents would tell their little helpers in different ways, over and over again. In accordance with its purpose, each pot would have a different theme shown through the illustration.

How long did you work on your design?

Jelena: Considering that I had a lot of ideas, it took me the most time to reduce the different concepts to 3, which was the maximum that could be sent to the competition. I worked on the winning design for a few days, constantly adding new details and changing the colors. In the end, I have finally achieved the desired atmosphere in the illustrations.

How did you feel when you found out that you won first place?

Jelena: I was so happy and excited. I didn’t expect to win.

What advice would you give to someone participating in a competition?

Jelena: I would tell them to believe in their design and the gut feeling. Being proud of their work is much more important than victory in itself.
